Haitian Prosecutor Me Bed-Ford Claude said he had seen no casualties among the president's security detail following the assassination. Habitant was implicated in a 2019 plot when seven heavily-armed foreign mercenaries were arrested in Haiti before fleeing the country. Solages' aunt Victorie Dorisme also spoke of her disbelief at his involvement in the president's assassination. It is not clear if the two men were known to each other prior to their alleged involvement in the president's assassination.
