The motorcycle had skidded off the road and collided with a tree, police said. Both the motorcyclist and the passenger who were seriously injured in the accident were admitted to the Mahiyanganaya Hospital and later succumbed to their injuries. The deceased have been identified as two residents of the Mapakadawewa area in Mahiyanganaya. Mahiyanganaya police are conducting further investigations.
