The latest revocation of charitable status for Israel-focused charities by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is raising questions and concern from Jewish community advocates about whether these charities are being unfairly singled out following campaigns by anti-Israel activists. In August 2024, CRA revoked the charitable statuses of the Jewish National Fund of Canada (JNF-Canada) and Ne’eman Foundation. Hanley says CIJA wants to “get to the bottom” of how the government considers complaints made to its offices, and whether CRA has singled out Jewish charities. We believe that CZCA was targeted, consistent with what other Jewish charities have faced over the past two years,” the statement read.
