U.S. Army Private Travis T. King shocked both sides on Tuesday as he bolted across the heavily fortified demilitarized zone (DMZ) into North Korea. The incident occurred at a critical moment in U.S./South Korea – North Korea relations, as dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang has been nonexistent for over a year. Considering the delicate timing, the unexpected incident raises questions about whether North Korea will be compelled to sit down with the U.S. again.
