In a vacuum, the stock market in April was spectacular—the first 2,000-point monthly gain for the Dow, and the biggest percentage gains for the Dow and S&P 500 since January 1987. However, nothing is in a vacuum these days, of course. For fund investors, April was merely a reason to turn down the panic about the financial markets as they simultaneously navigate the pandemic, its lockdowns and the economic fallout.
