DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh has directed all unauthorized branch campuses and study centers of both domestic and foreign universities operating in the country to immediately suspend their academic activities. In the order, the institutions have been asked to apply for approval to the commission by April 25, 2026. Authorities have already compiled a list of the unauthorized institutions. The order refers to the “Regulations for the Operation of Foreign University Branch or Study Centres 2014”, which clearly outlines the legal framework for operating such entities in Bangladesh. Under clause (i) of section 4(3) of these regulations, all unauthorized institutions must apply for approval by the April 25 deadline to regularize their status.
