Health authorities are racing to tackle Indian variant spikes in emerging hotspots emerging around England. It is a new spike mutation of the Delta variant, also known as the Indian strain - in a change also discovered on the South African variant. The independent Sage panel warned this week the latest data shows increased infectivity of Indian variant, and that it is spreading widely across the UK.
