Friday's Covid infections have risen by 42,076 with a further 121 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, figures released this afternoon show. While Wednesday was the the first time since March 9 that the UK had suffered over 200 Covid deaths, with fatalities soaring to 207. The UK has seen at least 20,000 daily cases since the end of June.
