Up to 12,000 supporters were planning to travel to Istanbul for the May 29 final but transport secretary Grant Shapps said on Friday that Chelsea and Man City fans should not attend the match. ‘The UK has a successful track record of hosting matches with spectators so we are well placed to do it,’ he said. But given it is two English clubs in the final, we look forward to hearing what they have to say.’Wembley Stadium, the most obvious venue for the Champions League final, is already set to host the Championship play-off final on May 29.
