British Prime Minister Theresa May announced Friday that she will resign -- ending her months-long struggle to keep her job despite seething anger from her own Conservative Party over her handling of Brexit. Her resignation will trigger a party leadership contest, and whoever wins that contest will take over as prime minister. May’s position, under siege for months, became untenable earlier this week after she announced a “new Brexit deal” on Tuesday. “The basic constitutional principle is that the prime minister has to command majority in the House of Commons, and it is quite clear the prime minister, Theresa May, does not command such a majority,” Brexiteer MP Jacob Rees Mogg told Sky News Friday.
