The total death toll stands at 61,014. However official figures published daily show 69,752 people who have died during the course of the pandemic had Covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate. The effects of the four nations' recent lockdown on the death rate are still being analysed. The vaccine will begin being rolled out to the UK's most vulnerable groups and frontline workers before Christmas.
