Fire gutted the whole of the flat on the third floor of the building on Turin Street in Bethnal Green, and the roof was destroyed, London Fire Brigade said in a statement on Saturday. Labour MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, Rushanara Ali went to visit the scene. She described residents as "anxious given what has happened in Grenfell tower", reported the BBC. But she said the scene was calm despite thick smoke being blown into the surrounding areas by high winds, it added. The London Fire Brigade is working to evacuate residents from an estate in North London found to have similar cladding to Grenfell, according to Reuters news agency.
