In a blip from the recent balmy weather forecasters predict that huge swathes of the country will be lashed with torrential downpours on Monday. The south east of England, the Midlands and South Wales were all set to be battered by stormy weather overnight. In those areas forecasters have urged people to expect some heavy showers as well as a thundery weather throughout the day. A similar picture is expected on Thursday, with cloud and rain forming in the west, ahead of a largely dry weekend. Dry for most in the west and south but showers developing in eastern England and eastern Scotland, some heavy and thundery.
