The United Nations Secretary General’s spokesperson Stephane Dujarric clarified Monday that the views attributed to the organization’s Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohamed in leaked documents were misrepresented. In a statement, Dujarric says the said private conversation between Mohamed and her boss Antonio Guterres on Kenya’s President William Ruto was “distorted” and taken “out of context” and does not in any way reflect her views and opinions. “Throughout her career, she has been an unimpeachable, strong voice for Africa and its leadership on the international scene,” the UN spokesperson said of Amina MohamedThe agency instead maintains it has full confidence in the leadership of Kenya’s head of state. In fact, the organization’s spokesperson confirmed that the Deputy UN chief will soon be meeting Ruto for talks in Nairobi. “The Deputy Secretary-General has full confidence and respect for the leadership of President William Ruyo and looks forward to traveling to Nairobi later this month for a previously scheduled trip,” she said“Kenya has been through the decades and continues to be a very generous host to UN institutions and a very important contributor to the international agenda,” Dujarric added
