The state government has made it mandatory for passengers coming in from states with high COVID-19 cases to carry their RT-PCR negative report from August 1. Recently, Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said that the new rule will apply to those coming by air, rail, or road. Those travelling from areas with more than 3% weekly positivity rate will have to produce their negative COVID RT-PCR test report or full-vaccination certificate. The decision to make RT-PCR report mandatory comes amid a high positivity rate in some cities of Maharashtra and Kerala. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure contact tracing and testing of people coming from states with a high positivity rate.
