UPDATED: No gunshot but stone attack on Abuja-Kaduna train, says NRC

Okechukwu Nnodim, AbujaThe Nigerian Railway Corporation has said that the attack on one of its trains on the Abuja-Kaduna route on Thursday was not done by gunmen, as no gunshot was fired at any of its coaches. It, however, stated that one of the coaches of its Thursday morning Abuja bound train was pelted with stones by unidentified boys in Kaduna, adding that the security personnel on the train debunked claims of gunshot. When contacted to explain what happened, the Managing Director, NRC, Fidet Okhiria, told our correspondent that there was no attack on the corporation’s service by gunmen. What happened according to the police escorts on the train is that stones were thrown at the train by some boys, which affected only the window glass of coach SP4,” he said. They alleged that the train, which left the Rigasa train station in Kaduna, at around 10am was attacked a few kilometres to Katari, about 70 kilometres to Abuja.
