The Central government strives to have gender-balanced work force and women candidates are being encouraged to apply for the civil services examination, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has said. The Commission conducts civil services examination to select officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others. "The government strives to have a workforce which reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply," it said in a notification issued for this year's test. The applicants have also been advised by the UPSC to apply early so that they could get the examination centre of their choice. "Applicants are, thus, advised that they may apply early so that they could get a centre of their choice," the Commission said.
