Through this new era of friendship between the United States and Japan, each of our democracies will grow stronger still. The United States and Japan will remake these commitments for a new era. The United States and Japan recognize that digital economy and emerging technologies have the potential to transform societies and bring about tremendous economic opportunities. To that end, the United States and Japan will also strengthen cooperation to advance health security, respond to future public health crises, and build global health. As we respond to COVID-19, we must also prepare for the next pandemic and strengthen global health security and bilateral public and private cooperation on global health.
