USAID’s MCSP Skills Laboratory Launched

The official ceremony for the launch of skills laboratory facilities at five midwifery and three medical laboratory pre-service education programs was held yesterday in the courtyard of the Tubman National Institute of Medical Arts (TNIMA) in Sinkor, Monrovia. Prior to yesterday’s launch, the MCSP/HRH project distributed teaching equipment and supplies to set up skills laboratories for each of its sponsored midwifery and medical laboratory programs. The medical skills laboratories are centers where nursing students can practice skills in a supported experiential learning environment to development their competencies and confidence in delivering quality healthcare in midwifery and laboratory pre-service education. The Minister of Health, Dr. Bernice Dahn and USAID Mission Director, Dr. Anthony Chan, as well as the MCSP, the MOH and other health workforce partners, among them, JFK General Administrator, Dr. Wvannie Scott McDonald, attended the event. The program focuses on ensuring that all women, newborns and children that are mostly in need have equitable access to quality health care services to save lives.
