Undergrads and hipsters rejoice: Pabst Blue Ribbon escapes imminent demise

Pabst Brewing Company and MillerCoors were engaged in a nine-day court battle that could have spelled the end for Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR). The American lager’s destiny hung in the balance on Nov. 28 as a jury engaged in its first day of deliberations. But as the jury considered its verdict, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, the beer companies told the judge they had reached a settlement agreement – one that should allow hipsters and undergraduates to rest easy. The terms of the settlement are under wraps, but a Pabst spokesperson reportedly alluded to it being a long-term solution for the $2-tallboy. Pabst was seeking more than $400 million in damages as well as assistance in securing alternate arrangements for brewing roughly five million million barrels of PBR per year.
