The participation rate, which refers to the number of people either employed or actively looking for work, was up 0.1% at 65%. The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate jumped from 6.1% to 6.5%, well above the national average of 5.6%. Only South Australia fared worse, with an unemployment rate of 6.6%.
