THE spate of unemployment among youths is largely responsible for the growing crude oil theft and vandalism of gas installations in the Niger Delta region. This was the submission of the deputy governor of Delta State, Mr Kingsley Otuaro during the media conference of the Delta State Advocacy Committee Against Oil and Gas Facilities at Government House Annexe in Warri. Otuaro at the media chat in Warri, stressed that lack of employment was the major reason most youths indulged in crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in state. Meanwhile, the Chairman/Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), Mr Osagie Okunbor, has thanked the Delta State government for organising the conference. Okunbor further enjoined participants at the conference to come up with brilliant ideas to further sustain the peace and securing oil and gas installations in Delta State.
