Union expels twenty-two China Airlines flight attendants who worked on presidential flight

Union expels twenty-two China Airlines flight attendants who worked on presidential flightTAIPEI--The Taoyuan Flight Attendants Union (TFAU) confirmed that it had expelled 22 China Airlines (CAL) members who defied a union strike resolution and served on a presidential flight to Central and South America in late June. The president visited Panama and Paraguay June 24 through July 1. Tsai has asked CAL management make sure the flight attendants' rights and interests are protected. Lin Chia-wei, the union's secretary-general, said 27 union representatives had voted on each of the 22 members' pleas to remain in the union, and more than two-thirds of the union delegates voted to oust them last week. Without union membership, the 22 flight attendants will legally not be eligible for any pay raises negotiated between the union and CAL management, Lin said.
