A United Airlines passenger service agent mans an LAX counter in April. The International Association of Machinists, which represents about 28,000 United employees including fleet service workers and passenger service agents, said it has sought to negotiate voluntary measures to relieve United’s burden as passenger traffic plummets during the coronavirus crisis. Among the approximately 13,300 IAM fleet service workers, 8,900 are currently full-time. Labor unions including IAM guided the grants through Congress.
