Unlike Kenya, Queensland’s fight against corruption spared nobody

Queensland is just above 1.7 million square km in area, close to three times bigger than Kenya. The Crime and Justice Commission was created, and later transformed to the Crimes and Corruption Commission (CCC). The Crime and Corruption Act of 2001 vested it with powers to investigate crime and corruption, combat and reduce the incidence of major crime, fight corruption in the public sector, provide witness protection, and administer the state’s proceeds of crime. Forfeiture orders, proceeds assessment orders, unexplained wealth orders or serious drug offender confiscation orders. Perhaps the next elections will provide the right platform for a more serious fight against corruption.
