Thousands of students are expected to gather on Ezra Avenue in Waterloo on Sunday for another unsanctioned St. Patrick's Day party. Waterloo Regional Police and Wilfrid Laurier University are both reminding people to be "smart, safe and respectful." Ashley Dietrich said police have had to adopt a "stricter approach" as the unsanctioned St. Patrick's party has grown over the years. In a tweet, university officials say, "Laurier actively discourages unsanctioned street gatherings." Information about the police approach to St. Patrick's Day, fines and university policies is posted to Laurier's website.
