Guilbault did not specify if the allegation is linked to Prud’homme’s duties as chief of the provincial force. Ouellette, a former SQ Sgt., called Prud’homme several times while he was being investigated by the unit in 2017. Although Prud’homme was aware Ouellette was under investigation, they spoke about the case for 45 minutes, according to the affidavit. The anticorruption unit is a separate entity from the SQ but Robert Lafrenière — UPAC’s director at the time — is Prud’homme’s father-in-law. SQ deputy director Mario Bouchard assumes the role of director during Prud’homme’s absence.
