Shylaja and the Opposition traded charges during question hour over infant deaths at Attappady. Nellikkunnu, N. Shamsuddin and others on the steps being taken to reduce maternal and infant deaths in Attappady, the Minister said 13 infant deaths had been reported in Attappady in 2017-18. A flustered Ms. Shylaja, however, failed to give a satisfactory explanation for the same. Even though the Speaker said the Minister would examine the figures and place an explanation before the House, the Opposition was unrelenting. The din continued till the Chief Minister said that the matter would be looked into and that a satisfactory explanation would be placed before the House.
