Democrat and Urbandale City Councilmember Larry McBurney has announced he's running for House District 44. Iowa Rep. John Forbes has represented House District 44, which covers Urbandale and parts of Des Moines, since 2013. Forbes, a Democrat, will step away from the Iowa Capitol in 2024, instead seeking election to the Polk County Board of Supervisors. More:Iowa Rep. Another Urbandale City Councilmember, Matt Blake, is challenging Republican Sen. Brad Zaun in Iowa Senate District 22 includes Johnston, parts of Urbandale and Des Moines and Saylorville.
