MANILA, Philippines (Updated 4:15 p.m.) — A total of 68 dead, 19 missing persons and 12 injured have been reported in the aftermath of Tropical Depression Usman, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Monday. Among the 68 reported casualties, 57 are from the Bicol region while the remaining 11 are from Eastern Visayas, mostly due to landslides and drownings. The 19 persons reported missing were from the same regions while the injured individuals were from Regions 4B and 5. As early as December 26, local government units have preemptively evacuated a total of 1,169 or 2,567 individuals in the affected regions. The Department of Social Welfare and Development has provided the evacuees with family food packs and other relief goods.
