Vancouver crews battling 4-alarm fire at Carleton Elementary

Crews are battling a fire at Sir Guy Carleton Elementary near Vancouver's Joyce Collingwood neighbourhood. The fire, which is in the main building, started at about 7:15 p.m. Friday evening and has been upgraded to a four-alarm blaze. Carleton was one of 12 schools on the Vancouver School Board's preliminary list for closure earlier this year. The main building was built in 1911-1912, according to Heritage Vancouver. There are four buildings on site: the main school house, a smaller wooden structure, and two smaller buildings recently renovated and operated by Greenthumb Theatre.
