ACROSTIC — Today’s excerpt is from an essay by a very prolific American writer and novelist, Lorrie Moore. Many of the essays in this book are from the N.Y.R.B ., but the passage today is actually from an article that ran in The Telegraph about the juggernaut movie “Titanic,” which won 11 Oscars. There are almost that many cinematic clues in the puzzle today, perhaps intended to whet our appetite for that awards show juggernaut that’s rolling up next Sunday (when we’ll have some other variety puzzle that’s not nearly as camera-ready as team Cox Rathvon’s creations, but we’ll get by). I’m not a fanatic cinephile, but I’m buff enough to know HIGH SCHOOL, AMY ADAMS, ENGAGED, EMPLOYE (e or R? Surely that’s possible?
