Vice Admiral Bimal Verma on Tuesday withdrew the petition from the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT), which was moved a day earlier over his supersession and appointment of Vice Admiral Karambir Singh as the next Chief of Naval Staff (CNS). He was asked by the AFT to first seek internal channels for redressal through the Ministry of Defence (MoD). This was declined by the Tribunal which observed that they do not act as advisers to the government of India.
