Victoria and Vancouver will be home to the first satellite sites for police training academies, with an opening date eyed for later this year. The Victoria and Vancouver satellite sites aim to help expand B.C.’s training of new police recruits, the province said when announcing the sites on Friday. In 2025, police departments were invited to apply to be selected as one of two satellite training locations for an initial two-year pilot. But Wilson says the satellite training site allows for more cultural training and community competency specific to the Island. The satellite sites are part of the province’s $4-million investment in new funding in 2025’s B.C.
