Virus tests for aged care home workers and domestic helpers

Foreign domestic helpers in dorms will be offered free virus tests arranged by the Labour Department. The Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong made the announcement on his blog today after virus patients were detected at various care homes. Although only one person tested positive, Law said this did not reflect the full story, as two other care workers had been diagnosed earlier. Law also said he was drafting legislative amendments to improve supervision of private care homes. Meanwhile, the Labour Department said it would begin offering from today free virus tests for foreign domestic helpers in boarding facilities provided by employment agencies.
