Ian Campbell, a hereditary chief of the Squamish Nation, would have been Vancouver’s first Indigenous mayor if elected. Vision Vancouver has held the balance of power at city hall since 2008 but faces a wide field of challengers this year. Jen St. Denis is a Vancouver-based reporter covering affordability and city hall.
