A Prime Minister who made a career out of gestures must put now put his clapping hands in Britain’s coffers for the nation’s heroes or he’ll rightly be accused of hypocrisy. Yesterday’s clap might have lacked the thunderous noise of the 8pm Thursday events. Now he must deliver for these key workers on the front line, the valiant staff who stood up to be counted when we needed them most. Let’s pay heroes what they are worth instead of wages that leave many of them struggling to cover bills. Pay up, Prime Minister.
