Calleja referred to the proposed team up of President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. Duterte-Carpio will run for president while the Chief Executive will run for vice president. Calleja said it was against the law for Duterte to run for vice president in 2022, as it would be impossible for a president to assume a "successor post." Calleja said no vice president in Philippine history got to choose a running mate. It is set to announce its list of nominees for president and vice president on June 12, coinciding with the Philippines' 123rd Independence Day.
