More than 200,000 voters are expected to exercise their franchise to choose their representative in the Brahmanbaria by-elections. Brahmanbaria 1 seat fell vacant after the death of Awami League leader and Fisheries and Livestock minister Sayedul Hoque on December 16. Members of Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh, police and Ansar have been deployed at polling centres to ensure smooth balloting. Bodruddoza M Farhad Hossain of Awami League, Rezwan Ahmed of Jatiya Party and Abul Kashem Mohammad Asraful Haque of Islami Oikya Jote are vying for the constituency. Additional security measures have been taken at 49 risky polling centres.
