Paid sick days are uncommon in certain jobs requiring frequent contact with patients, which can have important public health implications. Ideally, the legislation would have permanently required employers to allow every worker to earn paid sick leave of, say, 7 days. Require paid sick leave, improve the stimulus package and move on to a permanent fix.
