In addition to the fines, the court ordered each of them to sign a two-year bond of good behaviour. “The court also took into account that all three had already spent six weeks in remand following their initial court appearance,” the report said. The assault drew widespread attention and condemnation from education stakeholders, particularly teacher unions, who expressed concerns about rising indiscipline and safety within schools. Members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and other educators attended court in a show of solidarity with Teye.
