The Wall Street Journal ranks nine major U.S airlines on seven equally weighted operations metrics: on-time arrivals, flight cancellations, extreme delays, baggage handling, tarmac delays, involuntary bumping and complaints. The first three measures, provided by Pulse, an aviation data unit of Anuvu, cover the calendar year. The rest, provided by the Transportation Department, cover the latest 12-month period available. Complaints are for a seven-month period ended in May because of a backlog at the DOT.
