WWE Crown Jewel 2018 marked a controversial finish to the Universal Championship match as Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman after hitting "The Monster Among Men" with a whopping five F5s. Lesnar's shocking victory came out of nowhere as the widespread consensus was that Crown Jewel was the time and place to finally crown Strowman as Universal Champion. That strategy has hindered Lesnar and minimized his importance to WWE, especially with a return to UFC looming. Therefore, WWE needs to decide: Is keeping Lesnar around worth jeopardizing the long-term trajectories of stars who should be main-eventing? And that's why Lesnar should have lost at Crown Jewel, but also why no one should be surprised that he didn't.
