That man is the recent NXT call-up Lars Sullivan, who is now officially a member of the SmackDown roster after some initial confusion about which brand he'd be on. When WWE started promoting Sullivan's main roster debut in late 2018, it was clear that the company had big things in store for "The Freak." SmackDown, meanwhile, faces a similar shortage of top heels, with Daniel Bryan currently injured and most of the show's other top villains being relatively unproven as main event caliber heels. WWE badly wants Sullivan to succeed because, at least aesthetically, he checks all the boxes as far as what Vince McMahon wants out of a main event level superstar. That, of course, is no guarantee, but rest assured that WWE will make every possible effort to ensure that Sullivan doesn't fail.
