Walter L. Bush Jr., the longtime president of U.S.A. Hockey, the sport’s governing body in the United States, and a founder of the Minnesota North Stars, died on Thursday in Naples, Fla. Mr. Bush was president of U.S.A. Hockey, formerly the Amateur Hockey Association of the United States, from 1986 to 2003. He managed the 1959 national team and 1964 Olympic team, serving on the United States Olympic Committee in 1963. He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto in 2000. As the president of U.S.A. Hockey, he pushed for the addition of women’s hockey to the Olympics in 1998.
