Warby Parker Makes Move Into Contacts With The Launch of Scout

On Tuesday, the New York City-based eyeglass retailer launched Scout, “the Warby Parker of contacts, literally,” the brand’s cofounder and co-CEO, David Gilboa, said. Some 40% of Warby Parker customers wear both contacts and glasses. To date, Warby Parker has raised $290 million, with Tiger Global and T. Rowe Price as the company’s two primary investors. With the move into contacts, Warby Parker plans to triple the number of eye doctors it employs. With the launch of Scout, Warby Parker plans to expand its already rapidly growing number of physical retail spaces with the goal to add 35 locations in 2020.
