The noble false widow originates from Madeira and the Canary Islands, and is similar in appearance to the deadly black widow, although they are significantly less dangerous. Scientists claim the false widow now has the potential to become one of the world’s most invasive species of spider. In parts of Britain and Ireland, the noble false widow has become one of the most common species of spider found in and around urban habitats.
