Join us Wednesday, Jan. 9 starting at 1 p.m. for breaking commentary and analysis of the Bank of Canada’s rate decision. The Bank of Canada has raised rates five times since mid-2017, and Governor Stephen Poloz has said he’s watching the economy closely to gauge the effects. While investors are increasingly sure the bank will proceed more slowly, they will be watching closely for clues on the state of the economy when Poloz and his deputy Carolyn Wilkins answer questions on the monetary policy report after the 10 a.m. decision. In October, the market expected three more hikes this year. The implied odds now show just one more increase in 2019.
