Water rate hike requested in part to cover EverWind's proposed green hydrogen plant


Water rates will go up around the Port Hawkesbury area this summer, if new plans are approved for the Landrie Lake Water Utility. He also said EverWind Fuels needs a large volume of water for its proposed hydrogen plant and the utility is willing to provide it. Landrie Lake Utility chair Iaian Langley couldn't say offhand how much the utility needs for its existing customers, but says there's no concern about the lake's capacity. "In a drought summer like last summer, we had plenty of water and there's plenty available for other industrial customers," he said. The utility's existing customers include Everwind, Tupper Industrial Developers, Nova Scotia Power, Port Hawkesbury Paper and the town of Port Hawkesbury.
