As Liberia celebrates Global Handwashing Day on Monday, October 15, WaterAid in Liberia and Sierra Leone has today renewed its call for improvements to water, sanitation and hygiene in schools. An estimated 443 million school days are lost every year because of water-related illnesses. To keep that promise, ensuring water, sanitation and hygiene in every school must be a priority. Since 1981, WaterAid has reached 23 million people with safe water and, since 2004, 21 million people with sanitation. Just £15 can help provide one person with access to safe water.
